about

Calabashoud, the title of this piece comes from 2 words, 1-calabash and 2-oud. The reason for this name has to do with the interesting sound of the oud here, which i obtained by placing a piece of tinfoil between the strings of the oud near the bridge producing a buzzingly blunted texture which enhances and transforms the natural oud sound in a more percussive and mbira-esqe way. This is quite a long improvisation moving through several 'movements', moods and musical worlds. It was a lot of fun to create.
