about

A free Ka. The Ka was the Egyptian concept of spiritual essence, that which distinguishes the difference between a living and a dead person, with death occurring when the ka left the body. So the title is evocative of a free spirit and also a phonetic play on the word Africa. To me the tone and spirit of this mostly improvised piece is influenced and inspired by African sound and spirit, and by my experiences while spending some months in West Africa.
